MIDDLEBORO —

The mother of a 7-year-old boy who was allegedly severely abused, including being burned with cigarettes, was arrested this afternoon, police said.

The mother, Michelle Henry, was arrested by Middleboro police at her apartment on Archer Court at about 3 p.m.

Henry, 30, is charged with reckless endangerment of a child and assault and battery on a child with injury, said Police Chief Gary Russell.

A police investigation found that Henry had knowledge of the abuse allegedly committed by her boyfriend, David Privette, Russell said.

Privette was arrested Tuesday and charged with charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a lit cigarette), assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a belt) and assault and battery on a child with injury.

The cigarette burns were described as being “deep into the skin” and about seven to 10 days old, according to the police report from Privette’s arrest.

It’s not certain if Henry committed any acts of abuse herself, but the investigation is ongoing, Russell said.
