BLOCKING THE PLATE

Waltham catcher Derek Saulnier tags out Newton runner Hector Coscione at home plate during Waltham's 4-1 victory in the 13-year-old Lou Tompkins Tournament of Champions last night at Albemarle Playground. Waltham moved into the winner's bracket of the eight-team, double-elimination tournament and will play Sudbury at Curtis Middle School tonight at 5:30 p.m. Newton will try to fight it's way out of the loser's bracket, starting tonight against Melrose (5:30 p.m.).
