Brandeis University head coach coach Carol Simon was one of four Division III women's basketball coaches inducted in the New England Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend at Mohegan Sun Resort.
Simon, who is entering her 23rd year on the Judges' sideline, has been one of the most successful coaches in the region over the past decade, especially over the last six seasons.
Over that span, she has guided the Judges to an overall record of 124-36, five 20-win seasons, ECAC Tournament championships in 2004 and 2005 and NCAA tournament berths in each of the last four seasons. In 2009, Simon guided Brandeis to a 20-8 record that included a run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III tournament, matching the best-ever showing by a Brandeis basketball team.
Overall for her career, Simon has a record of 321-240 and has coached four All-Americas and eight 1,000-point scorers. She is a two-time University Athletic Association (1991-92, 2004-05) and New England Women's Eight (1991-92, 1992-93) Coach of the Year.
A native of Middlebury, Conn., Simon is a 1985 graduate of Colby College where she majored in Administrative Science. She was a member of Colby's ECAC Division III women's basketball championship teams in 1984 and 1985. A three-sport athlete, she captained the team her senior year, while also serving as captain of the soccer and softball teams. Simon represented the United States in the 1981 World Maccabiah Games. In 2003, Simon earned her Master's degree in Management from Brandeis' Heller School.
