The Mount Alvernia girls volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit in sets for its seventh straight victory, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-11, 15-4, to end the regular season yesterday against Bishop Fenwick.

The Mustangs finish the regular slate at 15-5 and now await the Division 3 state tournament seedings to be announced tomorrow.

Following a pre-match Senior Day ceremony in which nine seniors were recognized, the Mustangs got off to a slow start and couldn't battle back from deficits in the first two sets.

``After that second set I brought them in for a talk and we said that if we didn't let them get out on us early we could beat them,'' said Mount Alvernia coach Robert Guen. ``We started playing better at the beginning of sets and that got (Fenwick) nervous.''

Senior Katie Duggan led the way for the Mustangs yesterday with her strong blocking, and the Mustangs got another powerful hitting match from senior Jillian Hathaway.

Senior Andy Conroy had a solid match at setter, seniors Caitlin Flanagan and Melissa Allen played well at outside hitter, and senior Brianna Marin had a big serving run in the comeback.
