Seniors Nick Edwards, Chris Lipsett, Jon Marchetti and Jamey Steadman have been named captains of the 2008 Bentley men's soccer team, first-year head coach Gary Crompton announced.
Bentley opens up its season tomorrow at home against Bloomfield at 2 p.m., followed by another home match against Molloy on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
Edwards, a midfielder, has been a three-year letterwinner at Bentley. He's appeared in 30 games throughout his career, and last year scored the game-winning goal in Bentley's 1-0 win over at Saint Rose on Sept. 22.
Lipsett has started all but one game he has dressed for throughout his career. A steady midfielder, Lipsett had a career high 11 points last season, and also set career marks in goals with three and assists with five. He scored in three of Bentley's final four games last season, and had two assists in a 7-0 win over Queens (N.Y.) on Sept. 8.
Marchetti started 18 of Bentley's 19 games last season, which was a career high. He has appeared in 38 games throughout his three-year career, and last fall, tallied his first career goal in Bentley's 3-2 win over Bridgeport on Sept. 12.
Steadman appeared in 13 games last season at forward, giving him a total of 39 career appearances. His seven starts in 2007 were a career high, and he has recorded 10 total points in his three-year career at Bentley.

Giles, Reynolds named captains
Seniors Kim Giles and Ashley Reynolds have been named co-captains of the 2008 Bentley women's soccer team, head coach Lauren Lukis has announced. Lukis and the Falcons open up their 2008 campaign with a two-game road trip beginning tomorrow at Dowling, followed by a match on Sunday at Adelphi.
Giles, a defenseman, was one of four Falcons to start all 20 games last season, giving her 53 appearances and 51 starts throughout her career. She was the only Falcon to start all 18 games the previous season, and in 2005, she made 13 starts, the most of any freshman.
Reynolds, who is a midfielder/defenseman, was third on the team in assists last season with three. She was credited with assists on both of Bentley's goals in a 2-1 win over Southern New Hampshire on Oct. 16. She earned her third assist of the season one game later during Bentley's 2-2 tie with Saint Michael's on Oct. 19. Reynolds appeared in 17 games last season and started 15. For her career, she's started all but five games she's dressed for, starting 41 of 46. Her twin sister, Ali, is a defenseman on the Falcons as well.
After opening with two games on the road, Bentley plays its home opener and first Northeast-10 game against Assumption on Wednesday.
