Lasell College junior forward Caitlyn Walker exploded for a career-high six goals and the Lasers scored six times in the first half en route to a 9-2 win over the Blazers in tonight's non-conference field hockey game at Leary Field.
Elms College (3-8) had its two-game win streak snapped, while Lasell improved to 5-6.
Junior forward Sarah Lapolice gave the Blazers a quick 1-0 lead just 2:05 into the game off an assist from sophomore midfielder Jillian Burrows.
Walker responded just 2:29 later with her first goal of the game before senior midfielder Stephanie Jansen and sophomore forward Tia Pratt followed with tallies in the 9th and 17th minutes to pull the Lasers ahead 3-1.
Walker then put the game out of reach with three more goals just 2:38 apart in the 21st, 23rd and 24th minutes to stake Lasell to a commanding 6-1 lead at intermission.
Freshman forward Kasey Looney scored her first collegiate goal in the 46th minute to build the Lasers' lead to 7-1.
Although senior midfielder Ellen Silva's fourth goal of the year pulled the Blazers to within 7-2, Walker added her team-leading 14th and 15th goals of the season in the game's final 2:32 to close the scoring.
Freshman goalkeeper Christine Thornton stopped four shots to post her third win of the year, while Elms College senior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt made 16 saves.

Lasell 1, Pine Manor 1
Both Lasell and Pine Manor scored in the first 20 minutes of the game, then remained scoreless for the rest of the regulation and two overtime periods, leaving the teams in a deadlock tie, 1-1, on Taylor Field.
Lasell opened the scoring with a goal by Meredith Hessler at 5:58 into the game. Hessler snuck past the Gators defense and pursued a corner kick by Alaina Mitrano, giving the Lasers a 1-0 edge.
The Gators came back to tie the game when defender Beth Deegan fed Alicia Grenier with a leading pass from midfield. Grenier shot from short left field and connected with the far right corner of the net.
Lasell controlled the ball offensively for the remainder of the half, giving the Gators only one more shot attempt after their goal. Lasell fired in 28 shots at Pine Manors goalkeeper Kayla Nielsen, who had 10 saves before the break.
In the second half, the Lasers continued to dominate for the first 20 minutes, with 10 Lasers taking shots, but they were unable to capitalize. The final 15 minutes of the game, the Gators picked up their offense, with six shot opportunities. Lasers goalkeeper Jamie Remmers picked up four saves in the half.
In the 20 minutes of overtime play, Lasell's defense only gave Pine Manor one shot attempt, while the Lasers had nine chances to score, but the game ended in a standstill. Remmers completed the game with five saves, and Nielsen stopped 22 Lasers' shots.
The Lasers next face a GNAC contest on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they challenge Mount Ida College on Taylor Field. Lasell stands at 4-3-1 overall, and 3-2-1 in the conference.
