Katie Duggan had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Bridget McAnulty nearly did the same with 10 points and eight boards as the Mount Alvernia girls basketball team claimed a 36-29 non-league win over visiting Marian yesterday afternoon.

Kimball Union 55, Gann Academy 52

In a tight matchup between NEPSAC Class C rivals, Kimball Union edged out Gann, 55-52, yesterday.

Gann junior Nancy Epstein led all scorers with 27 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists. Senior co-captain Jen Rice recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while fellow senior co-captain Ali Haber added eight boards and four assists for Gann.

Gann fell behind early in the game and remained behind for most of the first half before a 16-6 run gave it a one-point advantage going into the locker room at halftime. It was a seesaw affair in the second half, with neither team gaining more than a six-point advantage. Gann shot an efficient 48.9 percent from the field, tallying 15 assists on 22 baskets, but Kimball Union's offensive rebounding and inside scoring in the second half proved to be the difference.
Gann hosts Chapel Hill today at 5:45 p.m.
