A Newton man wanted for assaulting a West Roxbury woman Saturday night surrendered to Boston police Sunday morning.
Hosea Richardson, 33, had told a relative that he was not afraid of the police hurting him, according to a police statement, but surrendered without incident in the South End at 11:30 a.m. He was taken to a hopsital for evaluation and will be arraigned Monday in West Roxbury District Court on charges of assault and battery.
Richardson and a West Roxbury woman went to a nightclub and returned to her house early Saturday morning, where Richardson punched and kicked the woman, according to police reports. She called police, but Richardson fled the area. The woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after the reported assault, Dedham police received a phone call from one of Richardson's relatives, who said he was acting strange and talking of hurting himself, and was not afraid of police hurting him either.
Boston officers worked with Dedham police and family members to locate Richardson, a department spokesman said.
