What would a major league baseball team do if its team was not playing up to its potential? Why, fire the manager of course. The manager goes even if it's not his fault. When the new guy takes over, it almost always follows that the team starts to do better.

The government would do well to follow suit.

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, heads of their respective financial committees in the House and Senate, need to go ASAP. Both are up to their eyeballs in this mess.

Others should get the boot, too. S.E.C. chairman Cox, Treasury Secretary Paulsen, and even Federal Chairman Bernanke.

All these guys, along with the president, should have been on the tube screaming warnings about the coming train wreck. They had plenty of time!

Some even misled us, particularly Frank and Dodd, both of whom led us to believe Freddie and Fanny were solvent. These guys even shouted down those who tried to warn us (although weakly).

What about Barack Obama? He has some of the biggest thieves on his campaign staff. What can we do? I really don't know.

I do know that my adopted slogan for the next three weeks is Nobama and No Incumbents.

To use another baseball term, "Throw da bums out."

BILL HICKEY,
Natick
