You may not know what it feels like to have a family member or close friend who is mentally ill or unstable. It's painful, sometimes heartbreaking, when your efforts seem helpless and your advice useless. That is why it's so great to know when they are receiving the help they need, from people who care.

This is what the Edinburg Center is all about. There are various services to suit the needs of all mentally ill individuals. At the heart of the Edinburg Center's mission, is the belief that all persons have the potential to learn, the capacity for change, the ability to grow and actively contribute to society.

Once consumers have learned to cope with or even overcome a problem, the Edinburg community strives to integrate them back into society, in a place where the patient's diverse nature can be beneficial. Currently, Edinburg is raising money to open a new service, referred to as a drop-in center, which will provide job preparation and search services.

As a member of the Waltham community and maybe even a friend or relative of an Edinburg client, it is important to support such a socially responsible association. In part because these excluded individuals deserve to be a part of the community, and also because it is your personal social responsibility to actively contribute to society and the common good.
