Emergency personnel respectful of family

On Oct. 11, 2009, our family experienced a life-changing event. Our beloved mother, Mary (Joanie) Tardif, met with a tragic accident when she fell down a flight of stairs. During this time of crisis, the first responders were upon the scene with in minutes. They knew exactly what to do and how to comfort our father who bore witness to the consequences of this event.

If not for the efforts of the first responders, we would not have had a chance to see our mom for the last time.

Our family would like to take this time to thank the entire Waltham Fire and Police Departments, the crew from AMR Ambulance Service and all the staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital who were so kind to us. We would especially like to thank the Waltham Police Department Dispatcher Beth Keegan, Sgt. Vaglica, officers Hancock, Anderson and Sullivan, and Waltham Fire Department Capt. Millian, firefighters Feranti and Schueler and anyone else we may be leaving out. The efforts exerted from these professionals allowed our family to unite in a critical time for our father and mother. Although our mom succumbed to her injuries, all immediate family members were by her side to comfort her and each other as she passed with dignity and peace.

Words cannot express our gratitude we have for these professionals whose compassion, professionalism, and bravery are often over looked. Let us never forget.

PHIL TARDIF,
Natick
