Two Waltham residents were passengers in a fatal accident on Soldiers Field Road on Monday, according to a State Police press release.

Just before 7:30 p.m. a single-vehicle crash was reported on the road in Boston. Preliminary investigation by Trooper Steven Gallagher indicates that a 1994 Lexus ES 300 sedan operated by 24-year-old Jeff Petit of Peabody, was traveling westbound in the right travel lane when the vehicle veered into the left travel lane, spun out of control and entered the right travel lane, striking the guardrail. Petit was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Two passengers, Jeron Feaster, 19, and Francky Andrevil, 20, both of Waltham, were taken by ambulance to New England Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the report.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the State Police H Troop Detectives and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.  The Boston Fire Department assisted Troopers on scene.

The right westbound travel lane of Soldiers Field Road was closed for approximately 3 hours.
