Police are investigating three robberies at city businesses this week.
On Monday at 7:15 p.m., a man holding a box cutter entered Shah Dollar Store at 368 Moody St. and attempted to rob the clerk. The suspect fled without any money when the clerk picked up the phone to call for help.
Later that night, at 10:15 p.m., a man robbed the Banks Square Shell station, at Main and Weston streets. No weapon was shown. The man got away with an undisclosed sum of cash.
On Wednesday at 5:41 p.m., a man robbed the clerk at River Street Food Mart, 220 River St. No weapon was shown, but the robber kept one hand in his pocket. He escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Descriptions of suspects in all three robberies are similar: a white man, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, average to thin build. Suspects in the Shell station and River Street robberies wore a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with a ski mask on two occasions.
The clerks in all three locations were women working alone.
Police advise business owners and store clerks to be aware of people in and around their stores and to call 911 immediately about any suspicious activity.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call police at 781-314-3550 or 781-314-3600.
