A 26-year-old Waltham woman died Saturday after she lost control of her SUV on Nonantum Road and careened into the Charles River.
Lauren Tsai was driving a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder at about 7:30 Saturday morning westbound on Nonantum Road when she lost control to the right, hit the curb, rolled down the embankment and into the Charles River, according to a state police press release.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Watertown and Newton police and fire departments and MassHighway also assisted troopers at the scene.
Due to the investigation and vehicle removal, the road was closed for about an hour.
