A local institution is coming back to life at a new location.

Sal Pinzone, who was the owner of Sal’s Family Restaurant  - a Main Street fixture for 41 years until it was ravaged by fire in 2007 - said he’s bringing the venerable eatery back.

"Sal’s is back, and look for the opening date," said Pinzone, who will turn 82 next month.
Pinzone purchased the building at 16 Felton St. for $420,000  - formerly home to Franca’s Pizzeria - at an auction held Thursday, according to a spokeswoman for Flynn/Boston Realty Advisors.

The site comes with a beer and wine license, though Pinzone said he would likely sell it, because he already has a full liquor license from the old Main Street location.

Pinzone said his family - a son and three daughters - would pitch in and help him run the business. There is room in the Felton Street building for 144 seats, he said.

He said the food served at the new location would be the same "top quality" fare that was available to diners for decades at the Main Street site.

However, Pinzone said there would be some additions.

"We’re going to have waitress service, which we didn’t have before," Pinzone said.
