WALTHAM —

Practice your most entertaining pose Red Sox fans, because you'll get a chance to have your picture taken with the Boston Red Sox 2004 and 2007 World Series trophies in Waltham this evening.

The championship hardware will be on display from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Waltham City Hall, 610 Main St., today during the Concerts on the Common. The visit is part of the 2008 World Championship Trophy Tour sponsored by the Massachusetts State Lottery, where the trophies are brought to various cities and towns throughout the commonwealth.

During the stop in Waltham, fans will be able to line up to get their picture snapped with the trophies, said Marty Ray, a Red Sox spokesman. There is really only one ground rule - look, but don't touch.

"Other than that, everything else is OK," Ray said. "You can make funny faces, act like you are going to lift them up."

This is the second time the trophies have come to Waltham this year. In April, the trophies were on display at The Chateau restaurant as part of the tour.

Meanwhile, a city councilor is trying to get another championship trophy from a Boston sports team brought to Waltham.

Councilor at large Patrick O'Brien said he's contacted the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation to see if the organization would bring the team's recently won NBA championship trophy here. He said he would like to see the trophy come to McDevitt Middle School this fall. That's the same location the Red Sox first World Series trophy, the organization's first in 86 years, was displayed in 2005.

"We had a very successful event in early 2005 to celebrate the first Red Sox championship," O'Brien said.

O'Brien said it would make sense for the Celtics to bring the trophy to Waltham since the team practices here.

"They practice in Waltham so I think it would give them an opportunity to connect with the youth in Waltham," he said.
