After stopping a man driving a stolen car, police, with the help of a scent-tracking dog, found cocaine, oxycodone, and other drugs on a 20-year-old Waltham man and an 18-year-old Everett man Sunday.
Officers arrested Shaun Michael Barry, who drove the stolen 2004 Honda Civic, and his passenger, Hrach David Toramanian, who had two cell phones and a digital scale on his lap when police pulled them over.
As police checked the Civic, they found small blue pills in a Mentos case, nearly $2,000 in cash on Toramanian and a plastic bottle with cocaine inside, according to a police report.
Officers also seized three stolen credit cards and a global positioning system they believe was stolen, following the arrest at 7 p.m. on Forest Street.
On the way to their booking, Toramanian told police Barry had stolen the car, police said in their report.
At the station, police searched Toramanian and found, underneath an orthotic in his right sneaker, more blue pills, a small blue bag with several white pills, and another bag with white pills.
"It was nice police work," said Detective Capt. William Stanton.
Police learned that the car, the GPS device, and the credit cards all belonged to different people from various communities.
Police identified the drugs as cocaine, oxycodone, suboxone, an opioid similar to morphine, codeine, and heroin, and alprazolam, an anti-anxiety tranquilizer.
Barry, of 16 Stapels Ave., Apt. 3, Everett, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, receiving stolen property worth less than $250 (the credit cards), and driving without a license. He was also arrested on a warrant out of Somerville District Court for assault and battery and shoplifting.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Waltham District Court yesterday and was released without bail. Judge Gregory Flynn set his pretrial hearing for Sept. 24.
Toramanian, of 798 Trapelo Road, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class E drug with intent to distribute, and a drug violation near a school.
His court file was not available yesterday.
