BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY, Sciences summit
The future of the state's biotech, pharmaceutical, and physical/life science industries will be on display at Brandeis University Sherman Function Hall, Hassenfeld Conference Center, on Nov. 5, 5:30 to 9 p.m., when the university's Hiatt Career Center partners with the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center for the inaugural Biotech, Pharma & Physical/Life Science Summit.

WALTHAM YMCA, Sign up in November
During November the Waltham YMCA, 725 Lexington St., is working to give back to families who are in need. Bring in canned goods to donate and receive 50 percent off the joiner's fee. The staff will give tours and answer any questions about membership and many programs. The whole family can experience the indoor pool, gym and fitness center. If a member's friend signs up they receive a free month of membership.

LA REINE BRIDAL, Giving away dresses
La Reine Bridal, 20-22 High St., is again donating wedding gowns to anyone deployed in Afghanistan or Iraq, or marrying anyone deployed in these countries. In celebrating its 26th anniversary, 100 wedding gowns will be given away Thursday, Nov. 5, noon to 8 p.m., on a first come basis. Proof of deployment is required.

Congregation Mishkan Tefila nursery school, 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, is now offering an art program for children ages 1-3.
