Writing Between Worlds: On Being a Jewish Writer with Tova Mirvis is Wednesday, Nov. 18, 6 p.m., at Brandeis University Liberman-Miller Lecture Hall, Women's Studies Research Center, 515 South St. Do you consider yourself a Jewish writer? Is this a Jewish book? These are often the first questions asked to a Jewish writer, and the ones that cause the most hedging and protest. HBI Scholar-in-Residence and author Tova Mirvis will discuss how both the preponderance of the question, and the anxiety in the response, are distinctly Jewish.

PERRY TAE KWON DO, Perry's Turky Brigade
Perry Tae Kwon Do again will assist 40 needy families with Perry's Turkey Brigade. Students and their families and friends and will assist 40 needy families with a Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers will prepare, package and deliver complete, uncooked turkey dinners to families in the area. The packages will include a 10-pound partially thawed turkey, potatoes, yams, vegetables, breads, cranberry sauce, dessert, and an oven pan to be used to cook the feast.

WALTHAM POLICE, Alcohol compliance check
Det. Lt. Steven Champeon of the Waltham police reports that the department will be conducting alcohol compliance checks at the restaurants, bars, and package stores in the city. The check will involve sending underage youth into liquor establishments with their Massachusetts under 21 driver's license on their person attempting to purchase alcohol. If the youth is asked for identification he or she will be instructed to present their license. Alcohol Compliance Checks will also involve the Waltham detectives entering bars and restaurants and spot-checking the identification of those persons who appear to be under the age of 21 who are consuming alcohol. The Detectives will be in possession of devices assisting them in the detection of fake identification cards and licenses.
The intent of this compliance check is to ensure that questionably aged youth who enter licensed establishments attempting the purchase of alcoholic beverages will be asked to produce identification and that the identification produced is actually scrutinized by their staff. Any liquor establishments found in violation will be reported to the Waltham License Commission.
WALTHAM HOSPITAL, Holiday reunion
