ST. JUDE'S, Turkey Give Away
The St. Jude's School 30th annual Turkey Give Away Party is Thursday, Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m., at the school, 175 Main St. There will be 40 turkeys, as well as 160 other prizes, including pies, wine, cider, gift baskets and produce. Raffle tickets are $1. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

TENANTS RIGHTS, Meets Monday and Thursdays
Student Tenant Advocacy Clinic The new Student Tenant Advocacy Clinic, staffed by Brandeis students, is an open, drop-in clinic to answer questions and concerns about tenant rights and housing issues. It is held at WATCH, 517 Moody St., on Mondays and Thursdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m., starting September 16th. Childcare and language translators are available.

`LOCAL FLAVOR', Unveiling of cookbook
``Local Flavor: Waltham,'' a new cookbook that features more than 200 recipes from the city's top restaurants and home chefs, will be unveiled at More Than Words Bookstore, 376 Moody St., on Thursday, Nov. 20, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature a book signing by author and publisher Dan Yaeger, plus samples of recipes contributed to the book from Waltham restaurants. Copies will be on sale for $19.95, with proceeds benefiting the skill-building programs More Than Words offers to at-risk youths.
Dishes include cuisine from a smorgasbord of cultures such as Italy, Greece, Germany, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, the Caribbean, Ireland, and the United States. Several community groups are well represented in the cookbook. Members of the Waltham Fields Community Farm contributed a number of vegetarian and health-conscious recipes, and the Reagle Players supplied several Broadway-inspired entries.

NEW PHILHARMONIA, Two concerts
Newton native violinist Peter Zazofsky joins the New Philharmonia Orchestra in its first Classics Series concert, Scotch Plaid, on Saturday, Nov. 22, 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 23, 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 848 Beacon St. The Boston University assistant professor and winner of the 1980 Queen Elisabeth Violin competition will join the orchestra for Max Bruch's tumultuous Scottish Fantasy. The sounds of the Highlands ring true as Maestro Knudsen concludes the program with Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 ``Scottish.'' Mendelssohn was inspired for the symphony by a visit in 1829 to Scotland, but the work was not completed until the late 1840s.

NEWTON-TANZANIA, Collaborative kick-off event
The Newton-Tanzania Collaborative will host a kick-off event at the Newton Free Library, 330 Homer St., on Monday, Nov. 24, 7 p.m, to celebrate their accomplishments to date, launch their new interactive Web site and premiere Kwala Secondary School, a video featuring their partner village in Tanzania.
Formed in 2006, NTC is committed to fostering mutual relationships between communities in America and Tanzania. The organization's first partnership between Newton, Mass., and Kwala (a village located 50 miles outside of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania) has yielded communication and exchange projects between students and teachers, an exchange visit to Newton by Kwala school teacher and NTC Advisor Athuman Msangi, and fundraising that has helped address Kwala's severe shortage of textbooks and school supplies.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, Achievement Breakfast
The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce's 93rd annual Achievement Breakfast and Awards Ceremony is Tuesday, Nov. 25, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., at the Newton Marriott Hotel, 2345 Commonwealth Ave. Stephen Kaufer, president and CEO of Newton-based TripAdvisor, is the scheduled keynote speaker. Historian and Stonehill College professor of American History, Gary L. Hylander, Ph.D., will lead an educational discussion, Nixon-McGovern and the 1972 Election, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2 p.m., at EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place, 615 Heath St. Framing McGovern as an extremist who was out of touch with American values and voters, Nixon beat McGovern for the presidency by a landslide vote. Hylander will discuss this amazing race and Nixon's fall from grace as he began his second term under the growing shadow of the Watergate break-in.
