WALTHAM YMCA, Open House
The Waltham YMCA, 725 Lexington St., is hosting an Open House on Saturday, Aug. 23, noon to 3 The staff will be present to give tours and answer any questions about membership and our plethora of programs. Healthy snacks and the opportunity to win a free three-month membership will be available for participants. Free guest passes will be available for open house participants and their families to try the facility for the day. Experience the outdoor and indoor pool, gym and fitness center which has brand new free weights. Adults are invited to participate in a sample Zumba aerobics class at 1 p.m.

NEWS TRIBUNE, Delivery route available
The News Tribune will have a youth delivery route becoming available in the next couple of weeks. The streets include Endicott Street, Park Street, Riverview Avenue and Rumford Avenue. Papers need to be delivered by 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The News Tribune will drop the papers at the carrier's home and provide the necessary supplies to complete the route.

`ROMEO AND JULIET', At Gore Place
Gore Place, 52 Gore St., the historic Governor Gore estate in Waltham, will be the site of a series of performances of William Shakespeare's classic ``Romeo and Juliet,'' by the Lonesome Coyote Theater Company. The play will be performed outdoors without costumes or sets but will include original music. Performances will be Aug. 21-24, 7 p.m. (Sunday at 4 p.m.) Admission is free. Bring your own blanket or chairs.
The Lonesome Coyote Theater Company is a new group of professional and up-and-coming Boston actors who get together in the summer to stage productions of Shakespeare that are simple, accessible, and free.

CONCERTS ON THE COMMON, Reynolds Band
The Waltham Arts Council Concerts on the Common Series runs Tuesdays, July 8-Aug. 26, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring chairs or a blanket. There will be a refreshment stand. The next show is Aug. 19 with Irish music with The Reynolds Band (rain date Aug. 21).

RAW NEW ENGLAND, `The Future of Food'
``The Future of Food,'' a film by Deborah Koons Garcia, followed by a presentation by the filmmaker, will highlight the next Waltham Raw New England potluck dinner Tuesday, Aug. 19, 5 to 9 p.m., at UMass Waltham Center, 240 Beaver St. Cost is $5, $10 for non-members. With unprecedented clarity, Garcia examines the disturbing issues surrounding the rapidly increasing corporate domination of our food supply. Chosen by the Oscar Screening Committee as one of the best documentaries of 2004, this is the first major film to cover the rise of unlabelled, genetic engineered foods, and the complex implications of untested crops on the environment and on the consumers.

EPOCH, Book club meeting
EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place, 615 Heath St., will host a book club meeting Friday, Aug. 22, 11:15 a.m. The book club is free and open to the public. Book reviewer Gail Rice will discuss ``1185 Park Avenue,'' by Anne Roiphe, a poignant memoir of the novelist's childhood. Roiphe reveals what it was like to grow up rich and Jewish in New York in the 1940s and 50s. Lurking behind the mah-jongg games and fancy cocktail parties was a family that was falling apart at the seams.

ATRIUM MALL, Friendship Festival
The Atrium Mall, 300 Boylston St., invites children to join in their Friendship Festival on Saturday, Aug. 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration will take place in the mall's new children's PlaySpace. Children will be able to participate in arts and crafts while playing with old friends and making some new ones. Children will receive goodie bags to take home.

Don't Bite Your Tongue, How to Foster Rewarding Relationships with Your Adult Children, an author talk with Dr. Ruth Nemzoff, will take place Tuesday, Aug. 19, 7:30 p.m., at the Newton Free Library, 330 Homer St. Nemzoff shows that relationships between parents and their adult children can be endlessly rewarding. A book signing will follow.
