LENTEN BREAKFAST, At Trinity Church
Five Waltham churches will be hosting Lenten breakfasts on Thursdays mornings during Lent. The first will be held March 4, 6:30 a.m., at Trinity Church, 730 Main St. There will be a short devotional provided by the Pastor or a lay member of the host church followed by breakfast. The program is non-denominational.All breakfasts are supported by a free will donation.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE, For elementary and middle schoolers
Waltham elementary and middle schools can learn German, French or Spanish after school, beginning at 3 p.m. Trained language teachers using curricula written by children's language experts. Games, songs activities and drama are used to teach the language naturally. Classes begin Tuesday, March 3. Tuition for 12 classes is $190. Enrollment and materials fees $15.

LISA GENOVA, Speaking at library
First-time author and Waltham native Lisa Genova will discuss her New York Times bestseller, ``Still Alice,'' at the Waltham Public Library, 735 Main St., on Wednesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. ``Still Alice'' centers on Alice Howland, a 50-year-old celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career who struggles to maintain her independence with her sudden descent into early onset Alzheimer's disease. Copies of novel will be on sale.

REALTORS ASSOCIATION, Graduate program
The Massachusetts Association of Realtors presents Course 201 of the Graduate Realtor Institute program on March 4-5, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Association Headquarters, 256 Second Ave. The two-day course will provide instruction on Code of Ethics and Professional Standards; Negotiating and technology. Folk balladeer Rob Laurens makes a return appearance to The Oasis Coffeehouse, 34 Alder St., on Friday, March 6, 7:30 p.m. The Oasis Coffeehouse is a not-for-profit gallery run by volunteers from the First Presbyterian Church where it is housed, and provides a safe, inclusive and alcohol-free environment where all ages can enjoy live music, visual arts, fair-trade coffee and tea, home-baked desserts, and free Wi-Fi. EPOCH, Boston police strike of 1919
Historian and Stonehill College Professor of American History Gary L. Hylander, Ph.D., will give a lecture, Bay State Blues: The Boston Police Strike of 1919, at EPOCH Assisted Living at Boylston Place, 615 Heath St., on Tuesday, March 3, 2:30 p.m. Boston's police force was considered the finest in the early 1900s even though patrolmen were working more than 70 hours a week for only $0.29 an hour. In response, officers attempted to unionize and were fired for their efforts, sparking the strike of 1919.
