The Newton Police Department said today (Monday, Dec. 31) that at approximately 11:19 a.m. the Citizens Bank, which is located at 300 Washington St. Newton, was robbed.
A press release from Newton Police said: According to witnesses, a Hispanic male entered the bank and passed a note to the teller. He then revealed a silver handgun to the teller, which was located in his waistband. The suspect was given an undetermined amount of cash and then fled the bank. He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’4", 25-30 years of age, wearing a black jacket, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a dark colored baseball cap with a series of Boston Red Sox logo’s (letter "B") across the front of the cap. The party in question is a suspect in a series of robberies in the greater Boston area, specifically Boston and Watertown.
The Newton Police Detective Bureau and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force are currently investigating this incident.
