A Brockton man was indicted by a Middlesex grand jury yesterday in connection with a January death in Waltham.
Chrisshane Barrientos, 24, of Brockton, was indicted yesterday on one count of manslaughter in connection with the death of Neil Hulteen, 54.
An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled, said Corey Welford, spokesman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone.
According to authorities, on Jan. 17, Hulteen was visiting his girlfriend at her home at 77 Main St in Waltham. While at the home, Hulteen and Barrientos argued. Hulteen was asked to leave the home.
Shortly after, Hulteen returned and tried to re-enter the home. Barrientos punched Hulteen, who fell back off the outside cement stairs and struck the pavement below, hitting his head.
Hulteen suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries and died about a week later at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Welford said yesterday Waltham Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex district attorney's office have been investigating since January.
Welford said Hulteen, Barrientos and the woman all knew each other.
Welford said police made no arrests at the time of the incident. The charge followed a review by a grand jury.
