WOBURN —

A Brockton man was indicted by a grand jury yesterday at Middlesex Superior Court in connection with a January homicide at a Waltham home.

Chrisshane Barrientos, 24, of Brockton, was indicted yesterday on one count of manslaughter for the killing of Neil Hulteen, 54.

An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled, according to Corey Welford, spokesman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone.

According to authorities, on Jan. 17, Hulteen was visiting his girlfriend at her home at 77 Main St. While at the home, Hulteen and Barrientos got into a verbal altercation and Hulteen was asked to leave the home.

Shortly after he left, Hulteen returned and attempted to re-enter the home. Barrientos punched Hulteen with his fist, causing Hulteen to fall back off the outside cement stairs and strike the pavement below, hitting his head.

Hulteen suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries. He died approximately one week later at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Yesterday, Welford said Waltham Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office have been investigating the case since January.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Marcy Jackson.
