The Boston Celtics and Bentley University announced the extension of their 5-year partnership today through the 2009-10 season.
“We are proud to extend our relationship with Bentley University for another two years,” Celtics Team President Rich Gotham said. “Bentley has been a long-time partner of the Boston Celtics providing excellent student interns who have made valuable contributions to the Organization. We look forward to continuing our affiliation in the future.”
Through the Celtics and Bentley relationship, now in its fifth season, members of Celtics ownership and management speak with students and alumni at events throughout the year, offering insight into the business of basketball. The Celtics have also created a unique internship position that is tailored to Bentley’s curriculum (and also open to all internship applicants), as well as a game night “liaison” position that allows Bentley students the opportunity to work in various capacities across multiple departments. The liaison role highlights the different aspects of the inner workings of a professional sports franchise. In addition, the partnership gives Bentley the opportunity to host alumni events attended by a Celtics Legend and a member of the management team at select home games.
“Our five year affiliation with the Boston Celtics has provided exceptional opportunities for our students and alumni to gain insight into an industry and an organization that are dynamic, engaging and results-driven operations,” says Sandra King, Vice President for Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs for Bentley University.
