Resident in `To Kill A Mockingbird'
WALTHAM resident LEE CARTER BROWNE was cast as Miss Maudie in the production of Harper Lee's ``To Kill A Mockingbird,'' presented by Roxbury Community College Mainstage in Boston. Carter Browne has worked on productions with Arlington Friends of the Drama, Weston Friendly Society, The Concord Players and The Wellesley Players.

Matiwala on Emerson staff
SUNIL MATIWALA, MD, of WALTHAM, joined Emerson Hospital's medical staff as a hospitalist. Dr. Matiwala received his medical degree from Government-Medical College in Surat, India, and completed his residency at Crozer Chester Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He completed a fellowship in clinical heart failure/cardiomyopathy and a research fellowship in heart failure at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Matiwala, who is board-certified in internal medicine, is a hospital-based internist who treats adult inpatients and does not have a private internal medicine office practice.

Hayes finishes basic training
Army Reserve Pvt. MICHAEL L. HAYES has graduated from basic military training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C., to be a member of the Army National Guard or Reserve Split-option Program. The program allows students between their junior and senior year of high school to attend national guard or reserve weekend drills while still in school and pursue a military career specialty after they graduate from high school.
He is the son of Steven Smith and Cathy Matero of NEWTON. He attends Newton North High School.

Guevara at Smith center
FRANCISCA GUEVARA was recently hired as community health coordinator at The Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center. Guevara comes to the center after eight years of service at what is now known as Crittenton Women's Union in Allston. There she coordinated the Healthy Families program, a statewide initiative to provide support for teen parents. She came to know JMSCHC well through the center's mutual referral program: JMSCHC frequently refers young moms to Crittenton for its specialized guidance services, and Crittenton relies on the center for prenatal and postnatal medical care for their clients.

Land Trust board
The Waltham Land Trust announces its newly elected board of directors for 2006-07: SUSANNAH KING, DANIEL MELNECHUK, MIKE SQUILLANTE, NADENE STEIN and LESYA STRUZ.

McGonigle finishes basic
Air Force Airman 1st Class DANIEL P. MCGONIGLE has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training.
He is the son of Rose McGonigle of WALTHAM. McGonigle is a 2003 graduate of Waltham High School.

Hughes completes real estate course
MIKE HUGHES, of Re/Max First Realty on Main Street, WALTHAM, has completed the specialized real estate business course, Business Planning and Marketing for the Residential Specialist conducted by the Council of Residential Specialist of the National Association of Realtors.
The course was conducted in Waltham and is one in a series of professional education sequences that must be taken by real estate agents and brokers who will eventually qualify for the coveted Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation. The course covered the preparation of business plans, marketing programs and operations budgets.

Jaguande joins bank
East Cambridge Savings Bank announces that EMILIO P. JAGUANDE has joined as a member of its Business Development Team. Jaguande serves as Business Development/Regional Branch Manager and is presently based at the Bank's Wal-Lex Office in Waltham. Jaguande is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships and growing and servicing its small business portfolio. He is a member of the Latino Professional Network, and Medford's Salem Street Business Association.
Jaguande resides with his wife and children in WALTHAM.

Hadley wins Blues award
FRANK-JOHN HADLEY of NEWTON was among 21 individuals and organizations that was honored with The Blues Foundation's 2007 Keeping the Blues Alive Award during an awards ceremony in Memphis, Tenn. Hadley was selected in the Journalism category. He is one of only two writers selected for ``outstanding contributions'' to the blues. Hadley has been a music journalist since 1980. For many years, he has written the Blues column at DownBeat Magazine, reviewing hundreds of Blues albums for its international readership.
